Our Mac was clicking and you could hear it "working". Brian had the smarts to back it up before rebooting, and thank goodness because it never came on again! An appointment at the Genius Bar the next day and they tell us our hard drive is dead. Thankfully we purchased this Mac secondhand from the Westover's who are smart to buy the extended 3 year warranty, which expires next month. This got us a new hard drive for free. The Mac is back at home, loaded back up with all our precious memories, and still 'working" very loudly. This might warrant another trip to the Genius Bar. I'm hoping it will get us a new Mac, just like the Stowell's scored a new Mac through their warranty years ago. I can dream can't I? We however did buy a new external hard drive. How many external hard drives does it take to make you feel secure that you won't lose anything?
